Sober living homes, also known as sober living apartments and sober living communities, are residential facilities which offer structured and safe living conditions for individuals exiting treatment programs for alcohol abuse. A sober living apartment is a facility which provides the necessary living requirements for someone who has completed his or her program and is going through withdrawal from alcohol. SLHs serve as transitional living environment between such centers and the mainstream community. The reason why people opt for this type of living environment is because it provides them with the freedom to live their lives as they desire while still being under the supervision of a health care provider.

People who want to go into a sober living home often have a difficult time finding a place to live. But not to worry, there are several agencies that specialize in housing these people in order to give them an opportunity to live their lives to their fullest. Some of these homes are owned by businesses which are willing to give them an opportunity to earn an income by renting out their facilities to other alcoholics who are still struggling to kick their habits. Others are managed by the government’s Substance Abuse Services Administration (SAMHSA). The government agency tries to provide housing for people who want to quit drinking, but have a difficult time finding a proper place to live.

Sober homes usually have different features and can range from those that are strictly residential to those that include both residential and public services like a community center and recreational centers. Many people find it easier to stay in a residential environment while they are still in recovery than in a hotel room while they’re still trying to get sober. Another advantage of staying in a residential environment is that you will be able to interact with other people while in the process of getting sober. You can take part in social activities and get the help you need with addiction and alcohol therapy. If you have friends or relatives who are going through a similar experience, you can also benefit from this.
