Sober living homes, also known as sober living residences and sobriety housing facilities, are residential facilities that offer safe, structured, supportive and supervised living conditions for those exiting drug rehab programs. SLHs often serve as an intermediate transition between conventional housing and drug rehab programs. As people complete treatment for substance abuse, they may find themselves homeless and unable to afford stable housing. But, with the help of a residential drug rehab program, these individuals can often find permanent housing. In fact, many sober living facilities offer permanent apartments in addition to individual homes. While sober living homes are generally more expensive than typical rehab programs, they have proven to be one of the best ways for someone to get their life back on track.

The term “sober living” is sometimes used to describe programs for people who have alcohol or drug problems, or who have recently come off of them. Such programs offer both short-term and long-term living spaces for people who have gotten clean and are looking to continue their recovery. Many residential programs also include activities like fitness centers, health clubs and outdoor activities. In addition, many programs offer counseling services for both the individual and his or her family. Because they offer a variety of services, most sober living residences are in private residences where a family can live.

If you are concerned about how your loved one will survive in a residential drug rehab programs, don’t worry. Most are extremely safe and secure, and they offer 24-hour security, a warm welcome from the staff, as well as ongoing aftercare and support. While many people who have overcome addictions find themselves homeless and without a place to call home upon completing treatment, there are also many people who find it possible to live at one of these programs full-time or part-time, even while working with a full-time job. It’s important to remember, though, that it takes time to build a new life away from drug addiction, and that some people won’t completely overcome their addictions right away.
