More Information about Sober Living in Junction City Kansas

The people of Junction City, Kansas have developed an interesting strategy for encouraging their residents to transition from being “addicted” to ” sober ” living”. In fact, this is a mission statement for a special not for profit organization called “The Halfway House”, which is located in the center of this town. The Halfway House is run by volunteer leaders who help their clients to explore their potential as an “addictive challenged person”. They teach their clients how to go about the process of becoming sober. These people are basically people with a past life of addiction, and they are now willing to use their pasts as a stepping stone to a new and healthier lifestyle. “When you come to The Halfway House, you may not know where you are going,” says Joanne Simpson, the Senior Director of Development. “But once you get there, you will be surprised at what you see.” This transition program utilizes the twelve-step program of Alcoholics Anonymous. Its goal is to assist people in developing a plan for sobriety, both through the spiritual aspects and the behavioral aspects. It also teaches its clients how to build self-esteem, how to develop a support system, and how to find a job and other employment opportunities. People who choose to attend Alcoholics Anonymous meetings are assessed for severity of their addiction and are taught to participate in a twelve-step program of recovery. At the conclusion of the assessment, or after having participated in the program for six months, the individual is either invited in to participate in a class discussion or asked to complete a survey. At this time, the information is provided on what was learned in the program, any action that needs to be taken in order to move forward, and any obstacles that still need to be overcome. When you visit The Halfway House, you can look around and see the fruits of the program. There are many priceless possessions that can be seen on the premises, including programs, literature, and artifacts that remind one of the inspiration that The Halfway House has provided to many others.
