More Information about Sober Living in Huntington Indiana
In my research for an article I wrote about living in Huntington, Indiana a Transitional Living Facility was mentioned. This caught my attention because I had been searching for information on how to transition from one life to another, whether from prison, jail, or any other situation where your “life-time sentence” seemed to have no end to it, and where to go to find support. As the articles were coming in I was reading many of them and some mentioned Transitional Living Facilities. After that I did some more research and found that there are several places that provide transitional living for men, women and children in the Huntington area. But the one that caught my eye was called Halfway House.
Halfway House runs a program called Transitional Living, which is for men who are in recovery from certain drug and alcohol addictions and can handle their responsibilities in a reasonably effective way. It is for men twenty-five years and older who can hold down a job and at the same time take care of themselves and their families. The name “transitional” gives some indication as to what this kind of living is like, it means “a brief transition between being in a specific situation, such as jail for instance, and functioning normally with a job and family.” This is a bit different than a “stay-in-jail” program for men, which requires an addict to be in jail for a minimum of a year prior to being considered for this kind of program. If you can meet these basic requirements you may qualify for transitional living in Huntington.
Now that I know what it is and what it entails I will try to put some of this information into perspective for you. My goal here isn’t to scare you, but to inform you. I would encourage you to look into what might be available to you, whether it’s counseling, an after-care program, drug detox, a residential program, etc. The decision is yours. You have to make the call. Please do so without me crying in your ear.
