The Wilmington area offers more than 300 Sober Living apartments to choose from. Many of the apartments feature features such as self-serve kitchen, storage units and deck space. There is a variety of housing options including full to loft lofts and single family homes. The transitional living program offers a group of small supportive living spaces for people who are transitionally changing their lifestyle and looking for more flexibility. Other programs offer more permanent housing and a more long term solution with full time apartments.
The Wilmington area has four full-service transitional care facilities along with over twenty-five private sober living communities. The Center for Alcohol and Drug Addiction Services (ACAS) is a division of the Department of Health and Human Services in conjunction with Delaware’s Department of corrections. The mission of the Center for Alcohol and Drug Treatment (ACAT) is to “provide a comprehensive, quality alcohol and drug treatment system, assisting persons in recovery from alcohol and other drug abuse”. The Center for Alcohol and Drug Treatment also has a helipad that can be used by alcoholics who are relapsing.
The Department of Corrections is one of many state and local correctional facilities that provide services for the mentally ill. One of those facilities is the transitional center for the transition of people between prisons and jail. Another is the Delware House. There are other full-service programs including residential treatment, halfway houses, and group homes. Information about these options is available from state and local correctional facilities or by visiting the Department of Corrections website.
